About Me

remodeling to acommodate an elderly loved one

When I invited my mother to come and live with my family, we had to make some changes to accommodate her. The changes that needed to be made were all within reason and were all required so that she could get around with her walker and eventually a wheelchair if need be. I hired a remodeling contractor to assist us with making the changes. I learned a lot while discussing what needed to be done and what it would take to get it complete. I created this blog with the hopes of helping other families that are considering making the same changes in their homes.

4 Reasons To Schedule Your Kitchen Remodel In The Winter

If you want to have your kitchen remodeled, it's best to wait until the winter season to have it done. Here are four reasons why:

  1. It's Easier to Work With the Contractors You Want: Contractors are far less busy in the winter months. This is because exterior work usually isn't done in the winter. On top of this, not many people schedule for their home to be remodeled during the holidays. If you can swing it, it's better to look to hire contractors, like Lifestyle Kitchen Designs, to remodel your kitchen in the winter since they are much more likely to be available, which also means that they can get the job done quickly since they are less likely to be working on other projects at the same time.
  2. It's More Affordable: A huge benefit of a winter kitchen remodel is that all the products that you need are usually cheaper since they aren't in high demand during this time of year. This results in high discounts for a number of parts that will make up your kitchen remodel, such as the new flooring, countertops, cabinets, and more. On top of this, since contractors are more likely to be looking for work during this time of year, they will offer larger discounts for their services.
  3. It's a Faster Process: If you need a permit for your kitchen remodel, you can expect it to be approved much faster since the government agencies tend to not be as busy this time of year. You can also expect your products to be shipped out to you quickly since they won't be in such high demand. You're also more likely to find all the materials that you want to have instead of having to wait for it to be in stock again.
  4. It's Ideal if You are Going on Vacation: If you are visiting friends or family for the holidays or just taking a vacation with the family, it can be even more ideal to have a kitchen remodel done during this time. A kitchen remodel can seriously disrupt your daily living. You won't be able to cook and there are times when you will have to avoid walking into the room at all. So if you're going on vacation, it allows the contractors to work without you having to worry about it interrupting your day.

When you know these four reasons to schedule a kitchen remodel in the winter, you can see why it's probably best to wait to plan to have it done during this time.
